MankerBeer (MB): How come you lead this festival, what is your background? Any favorite brewery or beer?
Vidmantu Laurinaviciumi (VL): In the years 1999-2004 I have worked in beer festival TRIS DIENAS TRIS NAKTIS organization committee, after this festival was prohibited, there was huge pause for beer festivals in Lithuania. But in 2013 we together with Pakruojis municipality made PAKRUOJIS MUSIC, CRAFTS AND BEER FESTIVAL in local manor house park, for two years now. And as well as in those years I have visited over hundred different beer festivals in different countries. So idea about ŽMOGŠALA festival (trans. „very cold weather“) has been in my mind for long time and finaly last year it became reality.

Main purpose of this festival is to get visitors be more familiar with different beer styles, brands and breweries. Here we do have lots and lots of imported and local beer and ales, so I don‘t have favorite one.

MB: Few people have heard of the Baltic beer culture, but a lot seems to be happening? Can you tell us about the Baltic beer scene?
VL: We have over 50 small breweries in Lithuania only. Most of them are so called family or farmhouse breweries, but we also have newcoming craft breweries. So we will have at festival lots of interesting beer and ales. Also not only Lithuanian beer will be represented – we will have lots of imported beer, as well from Baltic states especially. About Baltic beer scene you will find more information at our festival.

MB: Why should Swedes come and visit the festival, what can they expect?
VL: All the visitor should expect lots of beer from around the world, lithuanian snacks to the beer, food, music, presentations on different beer and relative themes. And of course – good company and new friends.

MB: Apart from the festival, what should you really dont miss when in Vilnius?
VL: Of course – pubs like ŠPUNKA, ALAUS NAMAI, ŠUO, ŠNEKUTIS, DEV?TI, ALAUS KOLONILU. As well as walk in the old city of Vilnius should be relaxing after the festival. Also don‘t miss festival afterparty/lunch on Sunday.

MB: What do you look forward to the most with the festival?
VL: I hope to make this festival as an annual beer maniacs meetings in Lithuania. As well I hope see as much people at festival as possible.

Thank you Vidmanu and see you in Vilnius!

Sugna på att åka, kika då in här!
