Den 2a september dyker Aunt Sally upp på systembolagets hyllor.
Aunt Sally är för mig ett spel där man kastar pinnar på en docka. Jag vet inte riktigt hur jag ska förklara spelet för jag insåg aldrig riktigt vad det gick ut på. Men det är lite som kubb, man ska få dockan att ramla.
För Lagunitas är en Aunt Sally något helt annat! “It’s sweet, tart, and sassy” säger etiketten.

Jag letade efter en bra öl till fish tacos. Jag brukar gilla att dricka lätt syrliga öl som gose, eller humliga pale ale så denna surmäskade öl som sen ska ha blivit torrhumlad borde passa helt perfekt. Kul att den dyker upp på Systembolaget den 2a September. Det kommer nog att hamna ett par i min korg!

Lagunitas – Aunt Sally

Utseende: Orangegul och helt klar öl med ett fint krämigt skum.
Doft: Mycket mogen frukt, främst ananas, citroner och passionsfrukt. Funky och jordig i bakgrunden.
Smak: Syrliga citroner, ananas, pasionsfrukt och lite lime. Inte helt mogen frukt, som blandas med jord och örter.

Betyg? – Bättre(-) Skulle vara kul att dricka ölen när den är lite färskare. Tror att man tappat lite av humledosen. Det känns lite som att man skulle torrhumla en Berliner Kindl Berliner Weisse med europeisk humle. Ja vist är det en spännande tanke, precis som detta öl. Det är en spännande öl som passar väldigt bra till mat med lite hetta.

Two weeks and one day until bartime – so start preparing, Copenhagen Beer Celebration is in the air! I was just writing an article on UK brewery Thornbridge and how one of their brewers, Matthew, explained to us how they try to make all of their beers sessionable or at least with a good drinkability. A sane beer geek wouldn’t down a pint o Three Floyds Dark Lord (or…), not because the quality or taste of the beer but simply because its too flavorful and strong. At CBC we will see breweries from all corners of the world and with different focus – some are making big beers while some prefer easy drinking beers. I would put Lagunitas Brewing Co. in the middle, leaning towards the more easy drinking beers. Quite unexpectedly, many Swedes really like Lagunitas – a brewery we until last year had to go to Denmark to be able to find. The brewery is attending CBC for the first time and their beer list, subjective to change, has a nice mix of easy drinking beers such as their IPA and my favorite, New Dogtown Pale Ale to their new Chardonnay barrel aged Imperial wheat ale Doppelomyces and and Barrel Aged Imperial Stout. I wouldn’t miss fresh Hop Stoopid or Maximus – beers that will give you your morning hop fix.
